LUMS Photographic Society introduced this project back in 2016 to bring a new dimension to the photography concept in LUMS. Every year, as the seniors enter the final phase of their LUMS experience, our team is determined to capture and preserve all their experiences and fond memories over the past years at this institute.

The Senior Year Diary

All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make, the better. LUMS is the place that has made me the question anything or everything in life, whether it’s related to social issues, philosophical issues or it’s a business dilemma. It has made me think that every person around you is not a genuine one, no matter how long he/she has been in touch with you. On the bright side, I found wonderful friends, who have deeply influenced my life as great mentors and companions. They are the ones who helped to grow-up as a strong and positive person. As my Alma Mater, LUMS has blessed me with the stamina to say “Everything in life could be sorted out, no matter how wrong it goes”.
At this very stage, LUMS is more than my real home for me and I’m sure that it’s going to be the most difficult good-bye that I would ever face!”Rao M Abdullah
BS (Hons) Economics and Politics

“During my time here at LUMS, i have come to realize one thing. Something that is worth sharing. If something isn’t meant to be, then no matter how desperately you chase after it, it won’t become yours. But something that is meant for you, written for you, will become yours. Just see how fate makes way for you to reach that destination. You don’t need to chase it, really. It’ll be right there, waiting for you!”

“Lums provided that playing field where I could solve and re-solve the puzzles of life. Most of the times I got the configuration of the pieces wrong but now as I look back I think i was not meant to solve all of them. I was merely supposed to learn the meaning of persistence. From a shy guy to a struggling entrepreneur. These four years have really turned me upside down. I some how managed to get my hands into half a dozen societies and a lot more businesses than i could manage. All these years at LUMS I was trying to solve and re-solve puzzles of my life to form a map to my destiny. But now as I look back I think I was merely supposed to get a sense of direction and not the map. At the end of the day we make do with what we have.”

“Who knew that for someone coming from the small city of Hyderabad, these four years at LUMS would bring about a whole new way of living for me? When I came here I knew no one at all but the love of friends, the sense of community and the hospitality of everyone have made LUMS my second home and it shall always remain so! I have had the privilege of representing LUMS and my country on two foreign exchange scholarships; i.e. the United States and in Japan and have traveled extensively in these and other countries, but the happiest feeling is when you meet people around the world who not just know about LUMS but have the greatest admiration and respect for this institution, its academic standards and its achievements. That’s what makes me really proud!”

“Every phase in life has its own meaning and its own beauty. The phase of LUMS, which is about to end, has given me so much. It has given me opportunities to challenge myself in situations I never thought I was capable of doing good in, it taught me how to make lifelong friends who would stand by you no questions asked and to filter out the fake ones, it taught me how a person never really knows how much strength a person has and most importantly it taught me how everything works out in the end. At this stage in life where most of us are scared about the bubble of LUMS bursting, I’m pretty excited about what future holds for me because I am hopeful that it’ll be an even better phase.”

‘Having a degree does not mean I have achieved anything. Achievements are yet to come our way. This is not the end of something beautiful, but a step towards greater heights.’

Ahmed Ali Siyadat

“Im graduating on the Deans Honour List with a successful startup and the right contacts but somewhere between all this busy-ness I forgot that sustaining lifelong friendships was also part of the equation. I wish I could go back in time and have more of the khokha sessions and random plans with friends. There are so many amazing people who touched my life and I lost them just because of this, I wish I could have you all back in my life.”

“You say LUMS is a bubble but I believe I had been living in one till I came to LUMS. This is the place where I learnt what independence feels like, what responsibility meant and how you’re free to speak out your mind. This has been my safe haven. The thought of leaving LUMS and getting trapped in that same bubble saddens me. It’ll get monotonous with each of us stuck in the same rat race chasing blindly after our dreams. So enjoy this while it lasts as they say “these moments will transform into memories for a lifetime”
