The Photography Society of LUMS is well renowned for its trips. Serving as a means of both pleasure and inspiration, the trips form an integral part of the annual plan of action of the society. Moreover, the trips during the academic year are designed to get a much-needed break from the monotony and the stress of the everyday student routine. Of one of the trips is the signature trip to ‘Old Lahore,’ and the rest are to the striking landscapes up north (of Pakistan). Furthermore, from the past three years, PhotoLUMS has added international trips to its profile as well.
OLD LAHORE:
The first official trip at the start of every academic year is taken to Old Lahore to celebrate its heritage. Courtesy of the Mughal Emperors, the architecture, and ambiance of old Lahore is rich with history and full of vibrant colors. Not only are the sites epitomes of Mughal Art, but the food is unparalleled as well. Since a significant portion of the student body comprises of the students from out of Lahore, this trip helps them get acquainted with the true Lahori experience. Visit to Wagah Border is also done on this trip, to mark a perfect end to the rather ethnic trip.
NORTHERN AREAS:
Pakistan has one of the most beautiful mountains in the world, and PhotoLUMS explores them twice a year. Whether it be the lush meadows of Gilgit Baltistan, or the famous heaven-on-Earth Kashmir, or the imposing mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PhotoLUMS tours them every year, gathering numerous memories en route. Starting from the bus ride, all the way to the destination and beyond, the trips are ear-marked as an unforgettable, every time. The fall trip is scheduled for November and provides with refueling for the harder times ahead- the finals. The May trip is very memorable as well, as it marks the end of the academic year, and is a well-due reprieve in the aftermath of the finals. It also is the one last hurrah for our graduating members; therefore the excitement is amplified by a large degree!
INTERNATIONAL TRIPS:
PhotoLUMS is indeed very proud of its international trips. Initiated in 2016, the International Trip is a much-awaited event. The first trip that PhotoLUMS took was to Malaysia, and it was hailed as a huge success. The trip to Turkey this year followed its suit; the 7-Days, 8 Nights trip to the picturesque cities of Istanbul, Antalya, and Cappadocia proved memorable for all.
